Welcome to Miami

Riding our last miles to Miami

Welcome to Miami! You guessed it! Our last stop was Miami. We rode our last 230 miles (375 km) to Miami thinking that our journey was reaching its end. We reached Miami late in the evening to find out that our booking was wrong. Instead of booking for June 30, our agent booked the hotel for July 30. And due to the approaching 4th of July celebration, it was hardly possible to find any suitable accommodation. We contacted Eagle Riders agent and they were very cooperative and considerate. Our only option was to find a vacant room and our agent would refund it. After a hour of twists and turns, we found two vacant rooms for the night which had to be vacated early in the morning. Gratefully, we booked them and spent the night there.

Our Ride Had Come to an End

July 1st, 2017 was the day we handed our bikes over to the Eagle Rider’s warehouse in Miami. Saying goodbye to our steel “hogs” wasn’t easy. After taking a moment alone with our motorcycles to thank them for all their effort and for keeping us safe through it all, we hit the beach for the rest of the day. It was the best way to end our amazing journey and prepare for our flight back home.

Miami Beach

We did it! We crossed the U.S. from West to East Coast, from Las Vegas to Miami. We took a total of 18 days, of which we rode 11. We slept in 12 different hotels across six states and we crossed through nine different states (Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida). On average, we rode 340 miles (550 km) per day exceeding a total of 3,700 miles (6000 km). Our longest single ride was from El Paso to San Antonio; we crossed 550 miles (885 km) in 12 hours, including several stops, during that epic day.

Not to sound too cliché, but this journey was more than just a trip. It did not just change us, it gave new meaning to our adventures. What we thought was hard to accomplish, was indeed so.  At times the going was tough, but it was worth every second of it.
