Koh Samui Airport

KOH SAMUI: SIMPLY UNFORGETTABLE

Koh Samui Airport

Koh Samui Airport

From Phuket, we took a plane to Koh Samui. What a delightful experience landing in the exotic Koh Samui airport. Designed to blend in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Island, this airport welcomes its visitors in a relaxed, stress free and environmentally friendly ambiance. At the exit we were welcomed by a representative from the travel agency we booked through and we were transported by a minivan to our next 5-star experience at “Mai Samuai Beach resort”. And what a resort… till this day we still have nostalgia to the wonderful time we spent there. I wouldn’t had gotten better words to describe it than what was stated on the hotel’s websiteWelcome to Mai Samui Beach Resort & Spa, an intimate tropical hideaway on the shores of secluded Laem Yai Beach. An idyllic Koh Samui beach resort to decompress and escape the world with glimmering turquoise seascapes and spectacular sunsets. Stroll along the three-kilometer shore fringed with white sand and swaying palms, one of the most picturesque and private locations on the island.”

We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and within minutes we were accompanied to our room and showed us around. The elegant and refined interior design of the rooms compliments the external contemporary architecture, both offering an unmatched comfort and space to relax and unwind. The highlight of the “honeymooner” room we got was an open air Jacuzzi at the balcony. We would have never expected that with a price around $80 we could enjoy such a piece of heaven on earth. If compared to the hotel prices in Lebanon, this unique experience would had been valued for at least $500 per night. Luckily, we enjoyed every minute during our stay.

At the entrance we were handed a “Treasure Island Map” with a downloadable free App. After downloading the App, we found out that the map had a list of cultural and site seeing destinations with their coordinates across the island of Koh Samui, and through the App we had to find our way. It was already late in the afternoon, and the “explorer” in us started to feel itchy. Without further ado, we rented a scooter and got on the road. Since it was almost dinner time we used the map to locate one of the restaurants with the best “sunset view point”. As usual, Chantal would take the lead in such situations while I drive or ride. Successfully after finding our way through almost deserted narrow streets, zigzagging into some coconut grove, riding some steep uphill, we arrived at Conrad hotel. After making our way through the entrance gate, we were transported by an electric cart to the restaurant reception until a hostess assisted us to our table on a roof top balcony offering a panoramic view of a dazzling azure. We sat there and indulged in some Thai specialties, sipping on bourbon while watching the alluring colors of the golden hour sky after the red disk had dived behind the horizon. After such a magical and romantic dinner which we both hadn’t been expecting, we headed back to the hotel, feeling so grateful to have each other sharing such unforgettable moments together.

Conrad Hotel Sunset Viewpoint

At night we took a walk to the beach and got on the floating dock that stretched around a hundred meters over the water into complete darkness. While we sat at the head of the dock under a starry sky we started noticing some blurry glow coming from below. After a while, while staring at the water, we found ourselves surrounded by tens of luminous jelly fish, just when we thought the night could not possibly get any more enchanted (it actually reminded us of the scene from Life of Pi). As explained by a local the next day, it seemed that we witnessed one rare and unique natural spectacle. What a magnificent sight to behold.
