Route 66 Mysterious Way

Quenching our thirst at Santa Fe

The next morning, we took the famous Route 66 and headed towards Santa Fe, the capital of the state of New Mexico. After a short ride, we stopped by the famous “El Rancho Hotel” the National Historic Hotel built by the brother of film director D.W. Griffith. It is located on old U.S. Route 66 and became the temporary home for many Hollywood movie stars.

To Santa Fe nice and slow!

After that, our ride to Santa Fe was one of the shortest and easiest, almost 186 miles (300 km) which we were able to complete in approximately four hours including a couple of stops for gas and snacks. Around 4:30 pm we checked into the Quality Inn Santa Fe and without delay we headed to Tortilla Flats Restaurant, famous for its Mexican food and – you guessed it – BEER! We hung around for a couple of hours and had a few beers while we talked, joked and laughed about some silly things which are not really that funny.

One woman’s misery is another man’s fortune

On the walk back to our hotel room, we took another way and stumbled upon a “Ross Dress for Less” brands outlet where we spent a couple of hours shopping for bargains. It felt like we were rewarding ourselves. There were so many things we could have bought at Ross but sadly for Chantal (my wife), we were limited to the motorcycle saddle bags and the rear box capacity. Well, as they say, “one woman’s misery is another man’s fortune” (just teasing J).
